A+ Children and Youth
Spring Semester
You are needed to work in our A+ School Age Before and After Big A Club Ministry, A+ Preschool Ministry, and Parents' Night Out. You will be laying a spiritual foundation in the lives of children and youth with the goal of helping children and their parents come to know Jesus Christ. You will be challenged to grow spiritually and emotionally. You will be investing yourself into the lives of the children and families of this community. You will learn that life is not about you. You will learn that life is about giving yourself away to the high glory of God. The church, the community, and the staff will invest their hearts and lives in you. We seek to train you to be the leaders of the future. You will learn communication skills, dealing with other personality types, conflict resolution skills, organizational skills, and ministry skills. We are looking for extroverted, relationship oriented, energetic, organized, and self-motivated students. This is a life changing experience for the majority of students who serve with us. We’ve seen children and their families become Christians. Students with education majors preferred.

Limited football skills are required and all of the players speak English. A heart for sports and a desire to develop relationships and share Christ is required.

Caring for Refugees
Spring Semester
God is bringing the 10/40 window right to your doorstep! You have the opportunity to work with and live among people from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Burma, Burundi, Rwanda, Congo, Cuba, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Somalia as 1,500 refugees are resettled into Tarrant County. You will join the World Relief staff in ministry to these international refugees during the first few months of their arrival in the US. Through tasks like setting up furniture, picking refugees up from the airport, being an English partner, or taking refugees to run errands, you will become the very first American friend these refugees will make. You must be willing to form cross-cultural friendships, be patient as refugees learn basic life skills and be very loving and understanding as the refugee struggles through adjustment to his/her new life. The greatest complaint of the refugee is loneliness. They are impoverished in their relationships, and extremely open to foreigners. You will have many opportunities to share the Gospel with people who have never heard the Good News, and you might work with Christians who have been persecuted for their faith. You will know what it means to live on mission. It will be a life changing opportunity as you discover more of who Christ made you to be.
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Special Requirements: Sophomore or above.
Dates: Jan - May
Team: 2 students (same gender)
Amount You Raise: $2600 (Total cost of project $4400.

Cross-Cultural Training and Equipping
Spring Semester
Based on the concept of English Teaching as Mission, you will participate as language facilitators in an intensive English language program for senior high school students. In a variety of settings, including discussion groups using directed topics, structured classes, and a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, you will have the opportunity to share ideas, develop relationships, and share your faith through how you live your life and share the truth when given opportunity. Because the country is still closed to open evangelism, friendship evangelism is the primary tool for the work. To be effective, you need to enjoy a variety of social settings, be teachable and flexible, and have a high interest in getting to really know and understand young people in a different culture. During your time, you will be provided with ongoing field training, teaching training, and mentoring by one of our long-term workers. We are a key entry point for long term workers being equipped to go to more remote and difficult areas, as well a training place for nationals going out on short-term and long-term teams, so we know how to train you for effective work. Maintaining a Language Training Center as our platform is essential for our continued effectiveness in the training and equipping we do. You will be supporting that work and have a life-changing experience.
Location: East Asia
Special Requirements: Junior or above. Must have a passport or applied for one by Oct. 8, 2010
Dates: Jan-June 2011 OR Jan-Dec 2011
Team: 2 students

Discipleship Program through Refugee Ministry
Spring Semester
Segue is a musical term that means a smooth transition from one piece or element to another. This is what Segue is about - creating a smooth transition from where you've been to where you're headed. Segue also describes the transition of the refugees who you will be working with. Many of the Napali and Bhutanese people have just arrived in America and are transitioning into life in the US. Our hope is to help make their transition a smooth one and in the process develop lasting relationships and most importantly introduce them to our Lord and Savior. So...what is this semester like? A portion of each day will be spent studying areas that will set a great foundation for your life. A solid understanding and passion for discipleship, worship, and missions is key, but your own personalized plan might include developing skills of communication, relationship, finance and budgeting, physical fitness, music. Our desire is that you finish the semester on a trajectory toward success in family, ministry, missions, business, teaching...wherever God directs! Something that sets Segue apart from many other programs is that you will also be working in frontline international missions throughout the semester. The United Nations is sending thousands of refugees to Dallas each year, and the fields are white unto harvest. There are Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and other people groups from countries completely closed to missions efforts, but God is bringing them right to our doorstep! They are grateful for relationships with Americans and very receptive to the gospel. The needs and opportunities are endless and the time to act is now! If you are serious about global missions, there is no more effective way to immediately immerse yourself into a variety of cultures, and to relationally be Christ's hands and feet among the lost.
Location: Royce City, TX
Special Requirements: Sophomore or above
Dates: Jan 8 - May 14
Team: 3 Students
Amount You Raise: $1900 (total cost of project $3300)

Global Writer
Spring Semester
Write stories, sidebars and photo cutlines for the Global Communication Team-Africa's website and magazine, AfricaStories. One issue of the magazine will be published in the spring semester, so you will assist with that. New story packages go on the website every other week. Stories are about what God is doing through His people in Africa, and the aim is to generate prayer support and encourage volunteers to come to Africa to serve. Issues covered range from a particular missionary's ministry to social issues to significant events in Africa. You will sometimes write from interviews you have conducted, research you have done, or coverages you participated in. Other times writing will be based on material gathered by another team member. Many times you will be paired with a photographer and/or videographer in doing a story package. You will be considered part of the team. You need skills in both feature writing and news writing. Because African-Americans are a major target audience for GCT-Africa, having an African-American student fill this position would be exciting and helpful for us. Be prepared to be challenged to grow personally as you function as part of a team and have stories edited and critiqued by other team members. Living in another culture provides opportunities to grow personally and spiritually, as values, prejudices and opinions are challenged on an almost daily basis.

Remote Field Support
Spring Semester
As remote field support, you will be trained to assist cross-cultural workers (including current career and fellow Go Now missionaries) in providing troubleshooting, logistical and communications support. You will also be trained on cross-cultural and international topics that will prepare them to work/serve abroad. The training is very broad, including technology and media, but it is all delivered within a global context. Applicants are interviewed individually to assess if their interests and skills are suitable, but there is no specific skill set required for any of these positions. The primary skill sets needed are: problem solving, basic research, office software, and phone skills. Serving in this capacity is often an excellent way for someone who is unsure as to where or how they would like to serve internationally to discover, with confidence, the answer to this question. The impact of this work is enabling ministers and others working around the globe to achieve new levels of success and help people who are in need. Most students find this program very challenging on many levels, and significant spiritual growth is often experienced. It is best if you are a self-starter, highly motivated and can pay attention to detail while addressing many different projects/issues simultaneously. Other more technical skills that could be utilized if available include: computer hardware, computer programming, web authoring, graphic design, and media production.

The team will work to locate the schools, and map the logistics of the schools (Name, where, how many students, name of principle, etc) to lay the ground work. Depending on the school, the team may have an opportunity to teach some of the Bible Stories to the children once or twice a week. The goal is to place a Children’s Bible in the hands of every child in the city and pray for HIS word to break the darkness and penetrate the hearts of a new generation for His Kingdom. Another aspect of the ministry is assisting in reaching students and young adults through our community center.
